i am really sorry if i offended you by calling it a christian song? however the reason i asked was sorely so i could understand the song better, whether its about religion, love, or whatever people believe in. I am Christian and I just assumed the song was about God as well. I am really sorry, i mean I didnt even know who Leonard Cohen was until today so I was only trying to do sort of research about the song. Hope you understand where I am coming from. Kindest regards

Where do you get that this is a "Christian" song???? Do you ever READ that Christian Bible of yours? This is taken from Psalms!!! Last I heard they were attributed to King David who lived at least 1000 yrs BEFORE Jesus. On top of that, the verse I quoted has more to do with Leonard's singing his own song than they do anything Biblical. Please don't call this song CHRISTIAN! Cohen is Jewish!

it's interesting how the lyrics reflect the music in terms of the chords... ie. the minor fall(he goes to a minor chord) major lift etc.the baffled KING composing Hallelujah was none other then Leonard himself !

Overproduced, but that was pretty much his style, as well as the general pop style of that time. The song is amazing, and noone can take that away from Leonard!
