This is based on an Icelandic Folk Lore. Vatnsenda Rósa was a girl that lived in Iceland in the 16 houndreds and her love betrayed her and the lyrics are about how much she loves him and how much she wishes she had never seen him, to be able to aviod the pain she feels now.
