Why would the jaguar go after a bigger crocodile? The idea is to get something to eat, not risk getting eaten. I'll stick to Pizza Hut.

A jaguar's canine teeth are the largest proportional to the rest of the skull of any of the great cats. Smilodon had longer teeth, but they're extinct.
