Republicans should not have called for "more regs" they should have called for the imprisonment of greedy, dishonest book keeping, lying, cover-uping, crooks who stole billions of dollars since the creation of these fascist agences by FDR and then Carter(Freddie and Fannie) and these bolshie pigs who forced banks in this government created crisis scheme. Fact the assholes should HAVE NEVER GOT LOANS TO BEGIN WITH. Bad/No credit and no incme t pay it back....and a lot of the loans were CROOKED!

the truth is the lenders didn't want to be regulated. It has nothing to do with poor people borrowing, it has everything to do with crap loans that only looked good to those interested in short term profits. Republicans have done nothing but deregulate and rape the economy. Now they are rewriting history. Or do the Republicans now favor regulation? Not even now, will they support regulation.

higakun (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
I can't believe the GOP is getting the blame for this. We wanted regulation or stupid loaning policies, the dems were against it. But since the crisis reached its peak during the end of the Bush Administration, the sheeple will take the dems word that the GOP was against regulation.
