Standing up and bowing after a performance like that, with thousands of people applauding him...it must have felt magical.

Sure this interpretation is really good, but i wouldnt consider it the absolute performance that "no other pianist on this planet has ever topped." cause that would also include chopin himselfI also personally feel that Zimmerman's version has the delicacy that is sometimes just lacking in this performance

If I didn't want to hear the Horowitz in this piece I'd listen to a robot. I enjoy hearing what each pianist brings to a work and I think Chopin also would have enjoyed hearing the Horowitz in this piece.

More of them need to be exposed to real music from an early age, given some kind of music lessons on an instrument--piano, violin or whatever. They learn concentration, discipline, and can eventually discover the deep spirituality in the music of the great composers....then they would have no need for all that adolescent debauchery.

Those fabulous Horowitz octaves!! Of course, Horowitz was a virtuoso par excellence, and this is a virtuoso piece, but I think he overplays some parts, such as the A major section--I know it's marked ff, but he's more like ffff, and sometimes you're more aware that this is Horowitz the great piano showman than that this is Chopin, the supreme poet of the piano. But what fabulous fingers (flat!), what speed, what brilliance (if a bit harsh at times). I still prefer Bolet, Moravec, others.
