thats a pretty cool creation ^^;only problem i can see is if i didnt have any tracing paper/semi transparent item aroundd..i think the next thing they might want to add is letting us see that second image, but simply in a box we make with our hands, like by touching four fingers down[or something similar]that function could be like a backup..we might not necessarily have a some tracing paper, but i have never lost my hands before :D

that is of no use whatsoever

The keyboard and mouse is a "primitive" way to communicate with the computer in the same way that having sex is a "primitive" way to reproduce. There are other more "advanced" ways to make new human beings, but they are not necessarily better or more efficient.Touch screens and tablets and things like that are better for (what i feel is) a small subset of computing. So of course I feel that "surface computing" isn't worth the hype either.Primitive is not always worse than new and shiny.

to be clear, Multitouch is not surface computing...not even close... multi-touch means a computer can see 2,3,4 on a tablet, a touchpad or touchscreen, and respond accordingly.surface computing is about a camera seeing whats on a surface, around a surface, and project onto this surface a image that is interactive. THis means scannerless scanning, tabletless drawing, keyboardless typing, mouseless pointing etc, because the computer can see us.

AncientofAncients (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
surface computing is being tested and developed on a table top for now. but the underlying technology will mean the computer can interact and display on any "surface"surface computing is about making any surface interactive, turning a a surface into computer...thus "surface computing"This is what I envisioned when I first saw the tech demo in 2007, but apple snobs were saying "apple already has surface computing, its called an iphone" how small minded is that?

AncientofAncients (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
computers using cameras and projectors to interact with humans means a deeper and more engaging experience.computers can see us now, and the things we do, and respond to us through software. This means a shift from todays technology that need textual input through a keyboard, or some other primitive forms of input through devices such as tablets, touch screens, mice etc.people get hung up on the table idea, but dont see the underlying technology behind it.

okeyyy.....this is in the book of science, or borrowed from the old magician, optical illusion stuff? Did anyone thought about securing information on this method? if It can´t secure information on the method, but rather on the system that runs it, then it´s just an "optical-illution-on a tech plataform".

I totally agree with AncientofAncients....this technology is fantastic...and innovative beyond so many technologies... people used to say...what's the big deal about Futuresplash! Well...Futuresplash wasn't too useful when it came out...but it became what we now call Flash! Surface will find ways to be very useful, and the people who invented it...I also applaud you! Well done!!!!
