To ghyrtew43, the singer was not very poor b/c he wasn't so the whole time. He became broke, the money was gone, and then she left him. He does not explicitly say "when he was poor she didnt want him etc" He talks implicitly by saying broiled chicken & plantain r not enough for her, instead he'll give her broiled crocodile, elephnt knee & fields of plantain that's his way of showing her that "u can fool me once but u can't fool me twice"; not so much u will always b a gold digger. :)

well to all the ignorant ppl that seem to think that nigerians do not speak french, im here to tell u that some of them do!!!!!!.and to the rest of yall, this song is about a man who used to have a girlfriend.and he was very poor, so she left him for another man.then she sees him on tv and hears him singing on the radio, and decides to go back and be with him just to take his money.she goes see him, and tries to lie that she had traveled.
